Lying in State | Jack Layton

Jack Layton was the leader of the federal New Democratic Party in Canada and was the leader of the official opposition when he died on August 22, 2011. Layton was granted a state funeral by Prime Minister Stephen Harper, an honour usually reserved for current and former Prime Ministers, Governor Generals and sitting cabinet ministers.
